2024 San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP

Round 13

Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli

Misano Adriatico, Italy

Sunday, 8 September 2024

Francesco Bagnaia will be eager to register a record-equaling third San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP victory.

Most recent race

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider endured a disappointing race at the Aragon MotoGP on 1 September, the most recent event on the 2024 MotoGP calendar.

Bagnaia was involved in a crash triggered by a coming together with Alex Márquez in the closing stages of the race, but he got one point from finishing ninth in the sprint event.

MotoGP title ambitions

The 2018 Moto2 World Champion is placed second in the 2024 MotoGP Riders' standings having accumulated 276 points from 12 races.

Bagnaia is 23 points behind the leader Jorge Martin of Ducati Prima Pramac Racing as the duo battle it out for the MotoGP world championship.

Why Bagnaia could win the 2024 San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP

The man nicknamed Pecco returns to Misano Adriatico where he was crowned champion at the San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP in 2021 and 2022.

Having won this season's Italian MotoGP title, the Italian superstar is a clear favourite to win this weekend's race on home soil.

What did he say?

“I took advantage of Alex going wide to get ahead of him and also dove into the next corner with a slightly wider line knowing there was another rider," Bagnaia said after retiring at the 2024 Aragon MotoGP.

"Therefore, it’s a shame that it ended up this way as it had already been a difficult weekend. After another complicated start – due to the tricky conditions of that spot on the grid – I was putting together a good comeback, and I was a lot quicker.

"Right now, I’m quite in pain, especially in my left shoulder, but it looks like there’s nothing broken. We’ll do our best to be as fit as possible at Misano.”
